Within the scope of project “BSB00168 – Know What You Breathe: Mobilizing Communities for Air Quality in the Black Sea Basin (AirQuest)”, the “BSB AirQuest” mobile application has been launched on the Android platform and is now available to users on Google Play. The application’s iOS version has been submitted for review and is expected to be published on the App Store soon after the evaluation process is completed.

Aiming to raise awareness about air quality in the Black Sea Basin, strengthen public information, and involve communities in environmental decision-making processes, the AirQuest Project extends these goals to wider audiences with the new mobile application. BSB AirQuest presents air quality measurements across the basin in an accessible format, supporting environmental awareness on both individual and institutional levels. The application works in full integration with the web-based CleanAir Analysis Center, developed within the project, allowing users to access air quality data anytime—either via their mobile devices or online platforms.

Key Features of the Mobile Application

  • Real-Time Air Quality Data: Instant tracking of AQI, PM2.5, PM10, O₃, and NO₂ measurements.
  • Health Recommendations: Personalized tips based on current pollution levels, including alerts for sensitive groups.
  • SOS Safety Button: Quick access to a predefined emergency number.
  • Location-Based Notifications: Air quality detection for the user’s current location or the ability to search cities worldwide.
  • Privacy-Focused Design: Free, ad-free, and secure use with no personal data tracking.

BSB AirQuest stands as the first international and publicly accessible mobile application developed within the scope of project. One of the primary objectives of our project was to present air quality data collected from countries across the Black Sea Basin in an integrated structure. We now deliver this goal to wider audiences through a modern and user-friendly mobile interface.

Our aim is to increase environmental awareness in society, accelerate data-driven decision-making processes, and foster sustainability awareness especially among younger generations. We believe that the application will create a strong positive impact throughout the Black Sea Basin.
