Air Quality Monitoring and Outreach Activities

A comprehensive system is being developed to monitor and visualize air quality across the Black Sea Basin, combining data from land-based stations and satellite sources for continuous, reliable collection. This initiative includes the creation of a user-friendly platform offering real-time air quality data and fostering collaboration among stakeholders. A free mobile app will complement this system by providing personalized forecasts, educational resources, safety warnings, and location-based visualizations, along with a panic button for sensitive users. Additionally, a digital game set in a virtual environment based on real locations will be developed to educate users about air pollution impacts and encourage problem-solving through interactive quests, using both real-time and historical data from the region.

Comprehensive Awareness and Engagement Activities

A series of activities will promote environmental awareness and action on air pollution, including a launch meeting for the project’s digital tools, scientific events, educator training, and student STEM projects. Seminars for local authorities will cover greenhouse gas inventories, while sessions for drivers and the general public will encourage eco-friendly practices. Tree planting activities will engage students and teachers to support a greener future. These initiatives aim to build knowledge and foster community engagement in addressing environmental challenges.
