On July 2-3, 2026, the consortium of the BSB00168 – Know What You Breathe: Mobilizing Communities for Air Quality in the Black Sea Basin (AIRQUEST) project convened in Galati, Romania. Hosted by the Galati Tehnopol Association (ATG). The final project meeting was held to review the overall implementation of the AIRQUEST project, assess progress across all project partners, discuss preparation of the final project reports, evaluate the partnership’s financial status, and coordinate the remaining activities required before the official project closure.

Project Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gökhan Gürbüz welcomed all project partners and delivered the opening remarks.

Meeting Highlights

During the two-day meeting, partners presented summaries of the activities carried out throughout the project, highlighting the successful implementation of environmental awareness campaigns, educational initiatives, stakeholder engagement activities, and cross-border cooperation efforts. The presentations also provided an opportunity to reflect on the project’s overall contribution to promoting air quality awareness and strengthening regional collaboration across the Black Sea Basin.

A significant part of the meeting was dedicated to reviewing the Final Project Report. Partners discussed the completion status of project deliverables, verified supporting documentation, and coordinated the remaining tasks required for the successful submission of the project’s technical reports. The consortium also reviewed project indicators and agreed on the final timeline for completing all outstanding reporting activities.

Financial implementation was another key agenda item. Each partner presented the current status of their project budget, while discussions focused on budget utilization, the eligibility of expenditures, supporting financial documentation, and the preparation of the Final Financial Report in accordance with the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme requirements.

The consortium also exchanged feedback on partner reports to ensure consistency, completeness, and high-quality documentation across all reporting components. Any necessary revisions were identified and agreed upon before the final submission process.

Beyond reporting activities, the meeting included discussions on the long-term sustainability of AIRQUEST outcomes. Partners reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining cooperation beyond the project’s lifetime and explored opportunities for future joint initiatives that build upon the knowledge, partnerships, and tools developed through AIRQUEST.

The meeting concluded with a comprehensive evaluation of the project’s achievements and a shared recognition of the strong collaboration established among the project partners throughout the implementation period. As AIRQUEST enters its final reporting phase, the consortium remains committed to ensuring the successful completion of all remaining activities while maximizing the long-term impact and visibility of the project’s results.
